The Colts have lost three in a row, including last week’s trip to Minnesota, and they now face a second straight road game against a rested division rival. Indianapolis leans heavily on Jonathan Taylor, who has eight rushing touchdowns and gets a huge share of the offensive workload.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville has had 14 days to rest, recover, and prepare for Indianapolis, and it arrives as one of the best defenses in the league. The Jaguars allow just 17.3 points per game, top three in the NFL, and have the league’s best run defense at 72.2 rushing yards allowed per game.
The offense has been just as impressive. Trevor Lawrence is playing like an MVP contender, with 1,480 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He has plenty of help around him, but the former No. 1 pick is the clear leader of the unit.
Colts vs Jaguars Predictions
The Jaguars are the better team on both sides of the ball right now, and the schedule gives them another edge. While the Colts were traveling to Minnesota, Jacksonville had two weeks to get healthy and study the Indianapolis game plan.
The key matchup is the Colts’ run game against the NFL’s best run defense. If Jacksonville takes Taylor away early, Indianapolis has little else to lean on, and the Jaguars can take control of the game. At -7.5, they need to win by eight or more, but with this matchup, they have the tools to do it.
The under looks like the play too. Jacksonville allows just 17.3 points per game, and if the Jaguars shut down Taylor, the Colts may struggle to get anywhere near their share of 46.5. A rested defense at home should keep this one from turning into a shootout.
