The 3-3 Cincinnati Bengals take on the 5-2 San Francisco 49ers in this week 8 matchup. The 49ers have lost two on the bounce whilst the Bengals have recovered from 1-3 by winning their last two games.
How To Watch
The Bengals are set to face San Francisco after a week 7 bye, which has given quarterback Joe Burrow ample time to recover from his calf injury. The 26-year-old had been nursing the injury for most of the season, and the extra rest will have undoubtedly helped him. WR Tee Higgins has utilized this break to recover from his rib injury, which had been bothering him for quite some time.
The San Francisco 49ers have faced two consecutive defeats in the last two weeks. Their chances of winning their next game may depend on the NFL’s concussion protocols. If quarterback Brock Purdy is unable to clear the protocols, then Sam Darnold will take his place. Running back Christian McCaffrey practiced fully on Thursday, but wide receiver Deebo Samuel is likely to miss the upcoming match against Cincinnati as he is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
With Deebo Samuel and Brock Purdy unlikely to take the field, the 49ers side is considerably weakened. The Bengals are getting back to their best and I can see them inflicting a third straight defeat on San Francisco here.
