Game Preview
The culmination of the NHL season is set for June, as the seven-game series between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers gets underway on Wednesday. This will be a rematch of the finals series from last year, as the Panthers dramatically came through with a historic win in seven games.
However, the big difference this time around is the fact that the Oilers will have the important home ice advantage due to their superior record in the regular season. Edmonton will be playing in the second Stanley Cup finals, and they will be aiming to win the honor for the first time since 1990.
Leon Draisaitl has been the standout player for the Oilers this season, scoring an incredible 52 goals and accumulating 106 points. Edmonton finished third in the regular season division standings, and their place in the Stanley Cup finals was achieved following a five-game series win over the Dallas Stars.

The Florida Panthers will be the outsiders in the betting for game one success. However, they will have fond memories of their history-making win in the seven-game series over the Oilers last year. Florida will be playing in the Stanley Cup finals for the third straight season and they are aiming to win the title for a second time.
Sam Reinhart led the franchise in terms of scoring, accumulating an excellent 81 points throughout the season. The Panthers ended the regular season with a 47-31-4 record. After overcoming the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida earned their spot in the Stanley Cup finals with a five-game win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Head-to-Head Record
The Panthers hold the narrow advantage based on previous clashes this season, winning each of the two regular campaign encounters. Florida also won four of the seven games between the teams in the Stanley Cup finals last season. However, they did squander a 3-0 series advantage before winning in game seven.
Oilers vs. Panthers Game 1 Picks
The Panthers may hold the head-to-head advantage, but that could count for very little in this series. Edmonton have improved throughout the post-season, and they finally look ready to avenge their seven-game series defeat at the hands of the Panthers last season, beginning with a game one success.
