Match Preview
The defending Gold Cup champions are still on course to successfully defend their title this summer. Mexico have cruised through to this stage of the competition, winning two of their three group stage matches to top the opening round.
However, they were at their professional best in their last outing when overcoming Saudi Arabia to claim a 2-0 win on Sunday. Alexis Vega put Javier Aguirre’s side on their way to the victory, before a late own goal secured Mexico’s spot in the final four.

Honduras will be playing in the semi-final stage of the Gold Cup for the first time since 2013. However, they haven’t reached a final at the competition since finishing runners-up in 1981.
But, their confidence levels will be high after upsetting the odds against Panama in the previous round. Honduras forced extra time following Anthony Lozano’s effort, before securing their spot in the semi-finals after overcoming their rival in the penalty shootout.
Head-to-Head Record
Mexico has won two of the last three head-to-head matches between these sides, with their latest success coming in the Nations League in November 2024. Honduras had previously won the first leg between the sides in the quarterfinal stage on November 15.
Mexico vs. Honduras Picks
This should be an interesting semi-final clash following Honduras’ dramatic win in the quarterfinals. However, Mexico knows what it takes to reach the final at the Gold Cup, and they remain the logical play to set up a showdown with either the USA or Guatemala.
