Tottenham ended their 17-year wait for a major honor in midweek after defending excellently to record a 1-0 win against Man United. The victory means that Spurs will play in next season’s Champions League, despite sitting just a place outside of the Premier League relegation zone.

Brighton will be aiming to head off on a European adventure of their own, as eighth spot in the league standings could yet achieve a Conference League finish. The Seagulls have ended the campaign in reliable form after winning three of their last four.

Tottenham have an excellent home record against Brighton, winning seven of the last eight. However, Brighton recorded an excellent 3-2 win in the reverse fixture this season. This weekend, they could complete a first-ever league double over Spurs.

Tottenham have already lost a staggering 21 matches in the league this season. They have only lost more in one previous campaign, as they finished bottom of the top-flight in 1934-35. In fact, they could become the first team in top-flight history to lose as many as 22 games and not suffer relegation.

Brighton’s record on the final day of the season would be a concern ahead of this clash in North London. The Seagulls have lost their final league game in five of their seven campaigns in the Premier League.
