Jon Cooper’s team will be chasing a record-extending tenth Olympic gold in Italy, having previously won the top prize back in 2014. This clash also represents a rematch of the opening game of the tournament, with Canada beating Czechia 5-0 in Milan on Feb 12.
Since then, the Canadian team recorded back-to-back wins against France and Switzerland, scoring 15 goals. Connor McDavid has been one of the standout performers at the Games, scoring an Olympic-high nine points.
Czechia’s main danger man is Martin Necas, with the star scoring three and registering four assists. Following their defeat against Canada, Czechia bounced back to form with a win over France, before being edged out in overtime by Switzerland.
Their spot in the quarterfinals was assured on Wednesday, as they narrowly overcame Denmark 3-2 in Milan.
