Game Preview
Finland made history back in 2022, winning the nation’s first-ever gold in hockey at the Winter Olympics. They will be outsiders to replicate that feat, but a win over Switzerland will set up at least an opportunity to add bronze at worst to their collection.
The Finnish side have been consistent in the tournament, with their only blemish coming on the opening night against Slovakia. Finland bounced back from that setback with a dazzling 4-1 win over Sweden, before hammering Italy 11-0 on MD3.
Switzerland will be an interesting challenge for the reigning Olympic champions, as the Swiss are the third-highest-ranked nation in the world.
The team started the Olympics with an excellent win over France, before being easily beaten by Canada on Feb 13. However, the Swiss showed excellent character to bounce back from that loss, showing grit in an overtime win over Czechia.
Swiss goaltender Leonardo Genoni has been one of the standout performers at the Games, allowing just three goals, and making 79 saves.
Finland vs. Switzerland Picks
This will be an interesting fight between two talented European nations. However, Finland’s experience at this stage of major competitions could prove crucial, as they bid to set up a mouth-watering semi-final showdown.
