Game Preview
Intense rivals will collide in the gold medal match of the women’s hockey event at the Winter Olympics. For the seventh time in Olympic history, the USA and Canada will collide, with the U.S. team aiming to win gold for the first time since 2018.
The U.S. are the only team in the competition with a 100% record, winning all four of their group stage games, conceding just once in the process. Their free-scoring approach continued in the knockout round, beating Italy 6-0 in the quarterfinals and Sweden 5-0 in the semi-finals.
Canada will be underdogs in the betting, having already lost to the USA in the opening round. But, they have bounced back to form since that loss. Their route to the final saw them overcome Germany impressively in the quarterfinals, before edging to a 2-1 victory against Switzerland in the semi-finals.
Carolina Harvey has been the standout player for the U.S., contributing seven assists in six games. Meanwhile, Hannah Bilka has been a regular scorer for the USA, netting four goals. Canada’s star player has been Daryl Watts, with the star registering six assists in as many games.
USA vs. Canada Picks
Canada’s performance levels have been just below the level that they have shown in previous Olympics, while the U.S. have been defensively solid throughout the tournament. Therefore, a dominant win for the USA is expected in Milan.
