Breeders’ Cup Best Bets

Precise (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies)/ Ted Noffey (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile)

Getting ahead on the opening night will be the goal for all bettors on Future Stars’ Friday. A popular double is likely to come in the form of Precise (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies) and Ted Noffey (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile).

Both runners have plenty in hand over their rivals, and they should take an awful lot of beating. The double currently has odds of +330, and that looks like an eye-catching selection to get the Breeders’ Cup off to a perfect start for bettors.

Free Pick:

Notable Speech (Breeders’ Cup Mile)

Charlie Appleby has dominated the Breeders’ Cup Mile in recent years, and it is incredibly challenging to overlook Notable Speech in the race this year.

The four-year-old has won three from ten starts in stakes company, and was a very straightforward winner of the G1 Woodbine Mile on his latest start.

His graded race record should arguably be better, as he was unfortunate at both Deauville and Ascot earlier in the season. He didn’t run his race after a long season in this race 12 months ago, but he should be fitter and stronger as a four-year-old this time around.

Free Pick:

Journalism (Breeders’ Cup Classic)

For those who read our Classic preview last week, I was high on Journalism’s chances even before Sovereignty was scratched from the race. That confidence has increased now that the Derby and Belmont winner is out of the picture.

The three-year-old would be a Triple Crown winner without Sovereignty having been in the picture, and he has performed admirably in every race throughout the season.

His second behind Fierceness in the G1 Pacific Classic was a tired effort after a busy campaign, and I like his chances to reverse that form after a layoff. His workouts have been eye-catching throughout this week, and Michael McCarthy could be celebrating a first Classic winner on Saturday night.
