Jasmine Paolini has long been a player who has threatened to deliver on the biggest stages. But, it is unclear whether her breakthrough will come on a hard surface. That is reflected by the fact that she has yet to progress further than the fourth round in either the Australian or the US Open.
However, her performance levels at the Cincinnati Open have been strong, and she is yet to drop a set to this point. Paolini was at her very best in the previous round, beating Barbora Krejcikova 6-1, 6-2. In the win, Paolini didn’t give her opponent a break point opportunity, and she won 80% of points on her first serve.
