Match Preview

The relentless action on the tennis schedule continues this week, as the final eight players in the HSBC Championships collide in the quarterfinals at the Queen’s Club. The semi-finals will be staged on Saturday, before the winner will be crowned on Sunday.

This event is an informative prep tournament ahead of Wimbledon, but this year marks the first time in 55 years that there has been a women’s event at the Queen’s Club.

Emma Navarro is seeded slightly higher for the competition, and she was in excellent form in the round of 16 after easily seeing off Beatriz Haddad Maia after dropping the first set.

The 24-year-old is a proven competitor on the grass, having reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon for the first time last year. But, Amanda Anisimova should be difficult to beat.

The American has dropped just one set in her two matches at the Queen’s Club to this point, and was dominant in the round of 16 when overcoming British player Sonay Kartal in straight sets.

Head-to-Head Record

This week will be the fourth time that Anisimova and Navarro have clashed. However, the huge advantage is with the former, who has won each of the last three meetings. That includes a straight sets success against her compatriot earlier this year in Charleston.

Emma Navarro vs. Amanda Anisimova Picks

This should be an informative clash between the Americans in London. However, Anisimova could be a dark horse contender to enjoy a deep run at Wimbledon this year. She has a proven style for the grass surface, and she has been improving with every tournament throughout this calendar year.
