Alexander Zverev vs. Francisco Cerundolo Odds
Head-to-Head Record
This will be the fourth meeting between the two players. Surprisingly, it is Cerundolo who has dominated the previous three encounters. However, it could be worth noting that all three of the Argentine’s wins have been recorded on a clay surface.
Match Preview
Alexander Zverev will continue his preparations ahead of the US Open later this year on Friday. The German is the top-seeded player at this year’s National Bank Open, despite having suffered a first-round exit at Wimbledon in June. But, the German does prefer to play on a hard surface, and that has already been reflected in his performance levels in Toronto.
However, Zverev needed all three sets to overcome Italian player Matteo Arnaldi in the previous round. He recovered well after dropping the opening set, scoring points on 77% of the first serves. He was also clinical when handed break point opportunities, converting on four of 14 chances.

Francisco Cerundolo has been busy since exiting Wimbledon, as he has played at the Nordea Open and Croatian Open. In the former, he reached the semi-final stage, while he was eliminated in the latter in the round of 16 despite being the top seed on the lower-ranked competition.
Since getting underway at the National Bank Open, he has regained his form, dropping just a single set in his two matches. In the previous round, he overcame Tomas Etcheverry in dominant fashion, despite winning just 64% of the points on first serve. His stats will need to improve if he is to overcome Zverev.
Alexander Zverev vs. Francisco Cerundolo Picks
Cerundolo may boast the better head-to-head record against Zverev, but it is hard to ignore that all three wins have come on a clay surface. On these terms, the German should be capable of getting the better of his rival, and set up an interesting showdown in the quarterfinals at Toronto next week.
