Taylor Fritz-215

Head-to-Head Record

This will be the tenth showdown between Fritz and Rublev on the ATP Tour. Fritz holds the narrow 5-4 advantage. However, Rublev has won two of the last three meetings, which includes a success in the semifinal stage at the ATP Madrid event in 2024.

Match Preview

Taylor Fritz will be among the leading contenders at the US Open later this year. However, he will be aiming to build momentum ahead of the final Grand Slam of the season in Canada. The American has been in strong form in Toronto so far this summer, winning each of his three matches and dropping just one set.

In the previous round, Fritz outlasted Jiri Lahecka to win in three sets. Fritz was excellent on serve, registering 16 aces, and winning 82% of the points on his first serve. The American also limited the number of break point opportunities in the thriller, with Lehecka failing to convert on nine opportunities.

Andrey Rublev is a 17-time winner on the ATP Tour, and he is finally looking back to his best after rising back up to eleventh in the world. The Russian is a ten-time quarterfinalist in Grand Slam events, achieving that feat at the US Open on four occasions since 2017.

Rublev has looked assured on the court in Canada this year, despite needing to go the distance in each of the last two rounds. However, he was handed some good fortune against Spanish star Alejandro Fokina in the round of 16 after his opponent was forced to retire.

Andrey Rublev vs. Taylor Fritz Picks

Rublev is an excellent player on a hard court, and he should have the skills in his arsenal to ask challenging questions of Fritz on Tuesday. However, we still like the chances of the American to maintain his excellent form and book his spot in the final four at the National Bank Open.
