It has been a huge progressive period for the former US Open champion, Emma Raducanu, as she has looked back to her very best in recent months. The British star battled to the third round at Wimbledon in early July, before falling against world number one Aryna Sabalenka.
Her excellent performances continued at the Cincinnati Open a few weeks ago, as she made it through to the final four. Her run to that stage of the competition included statement wins against Naomi Osaka and Maria Sakkari. Raducanu has already settled into her game in Canada this week, beating Elena Ruse in straight sets in the previous round.

Peyton Stearns doesn’t have the same level of recent form to her name, as the 23-year-old exited Wimbledon in the opening round in June. She also fell at the same stage at the Cincinnati Open last week after being easily beaten by the returning Venus Williams in the round of 32.
As a seeded player in Canada this year, Stearns enters the National Bank Open in the round of 64. However, prior to the summer events, the American had shown excellent form after reaching a first WTA 1000 semi-final in Italy. But, a return to a hard surface would be a concern this week.
