Karen Khachanov has already won an ATP 1000 event during his career, but he is yet to truly make his mark on a hard surface. The Russian does bring respectful form into this final after recently reaching a career-best quarterfinal at Wimbledon during the summer.
However, his performances have gone up a gear during the National Bank Open. Khachanov produced a stunning display to overcome Casper Ruud in the round of 16, before battling to a three sets win over Alexander Zverev in the previous round. But, his low accumulation of winners on his first serve could be his undoing against Shelton.
