Head-to-Head Record

Fritz and Diallo will be colliding on the ATP Tour for just the second time. The previous meeting came earlier this summer, with the American securing a place in the next round at Wimbledon following a five-set victory.

Match Preview

There will be huge pressure on Taylor Fritz as the US Open moves ever closer. The American will likely be among the leading chances to win his home Grand Slam, despite the dominance enjoyed by Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Fritz has been in solid form throughout this season, and that continued in the previous round after beating Roberto Baena in straight sets. The American was excellent with his serves after registering eight aces, but he will need to limit the number of unforced errors.

Gabriel Diallo will take confidence from the fact that he forced Fritz to five sets in the previous meeting between the players this year. The Canadian has already shown excellent form over the last 12 months, winning a pair of ATP 250 events, which includes a success on the hard surface in Kazakhstan.

Diallo will have the crowd on his side in Toronto this week, and plenty of positives can be taken from his win in the previous round against Matteo Gigante. The Canadian registered eight aces, and also won an impressive 81% of the points on the first serve.

Gabriel Diallo vs. Taylor Fritz Picks

Diallo’s strong form this summer deserves huge respect ahead of this showdown in Toronto on Friday. But, Fritz has been consistent throughout the season, and the American should prove good value to record a straight sets victory to book his spot in the next round of the tournament.
