Head-to-Head Record
This week’s first-round clash between Rybakina and Pareja will be the first time that the stars have clashed on the WTA Tour.
Match Preview
There is a sense that Elena Rybakina has been performing at a high level throughout the summer, and she could be set to peak at the US Open this year. The former Grand Slam winner reached the semi-final stage at the National Bank Open, before reaching the same stage at the recent Cincinnati Masters.
However, her performances at the US Open have constantly disappointed. Rybakina is yet to progress further than the third round at the major, and she has a win rate of just 50%. Furthermore, she is yet to reach the standards of 2023 and 2024 in Grand Slams this calendar year, reaching a season-best fourth round in both of the Australian and French Opens.

American teenager Julieta Pareja has been making waves throughout the year at youth level, reaching the finals in both the individual and doubles events at the Wimbledon Juniors. The 16-year-old has won 26 of her 36 professional matches, and sits in a ranking of 340th in the world. However, she is yet to make her mark at the highest level.
It could also be argued that the hard courts don’t bring out the best in her game, as she reached only the first round in the junior US Open last year. Pareja will be competing in a first round match at a Grand Slam for the first time in her career after failing to qualify back in 2024.
Elena Rybakina vs. Julieta Pareja Picks
There is certainly a bright future ahead of Pareja, but at this point, she looks to have too much to find against one of the world’s best players on the WTA Tour. A bold showing is likely, but it’s hard to dismiss the chances of Rybakina winning in straight sets.
