Naomi Osaka has been one of the most dominant players on the hard courts in recent history, showcased by her two wins at the US Open in 2018 and 2020. However, she is yet to reach the same levels on the court since returning from a break in 2024, as she is yet to advance further than the third round in a major event.
Osaka would have taken plenty of positives from her performance levels in the prep tournaments, which included a run to the final at the National Bank Open. On her way to that stage, she dominated against talented seeded stars such as Elina Svitolina and Clara Tauson. But, replicating that level of performance at Flushing Meadows is now her big challenge.

Greet Minnen has been largely recognized as a doubles player throughout her career, achieving a career-high ranking of 45th in January 2024. In singles competition, she is yet to win a title on the WTA Tour, and she has an overall career record of 375-218. But, a strong case can be made that she is a player who thrives on hard courts.
Minnen has showcased her prowess at the US Open already during her career, reaching the third round on two occasions. However, her preparation for the 2025 tournament have been far from comfortable after suffering early exits in both the Cincinnati Masters and Tennis in the Land.
