Taylor Townsend vs. Mirra Andreeva Odds
Head-to-Head Record
A second meeting between Andreeva and Townsend is set for the US Open. The only previous clash between the stars was won in the three sets by Andreeva on the clay in Madrid last year.
Match Preview
American interest remains high at the US Open, and Taylor Townsend will be aiming to become the first American through to the next round on Friday. The 29-year-old will be playing in the third round for the first time since 2023, and she will be aiming to reach the fourth round for the first time since 2019.
Townsend has been in remarkable form at Flushing Meadows this year, as she has progressed through her two matches without dropping a set. She was at her very best in the previous round, eliminating the talented Jelena Ostapenko, dropping just six games in the process.

However, Townsend will come up against one of the brighest young stars on the WTA Tour this week in the form of Mirra Andreeva. The 18-year-old has already reached the quarterfinals in two Grand Slam events this year, and she will be playing in the third round for the first time at the US Open.
Andreeva has dominated her opponents in the opening two rounds, winning successive encounters in straight sets. In fact, she has dropped just five games across her matches at Flushing Meadows. There seems to be a growing sense that her Grand Slam breakthrough could come sooner rather than later.
Taylor Townsend vs. Mirra Andreeva Picks
We flagged up Andreeva as our women’s pick to win the US Open, and her dominant start to the tournament bodes well. Her ability on the hard court is perfectly suited to the surface, and another dominant showing is expected on Friday.
