A statement day for British tennis on day one of Wimbledon saw just under ten players make it through to the second round. Among those included former U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu. Raducanu was excellent in her opening round clash with compatriot Mingge Xu, scoring four aces and winning 75% of the points on her first serve.
The British number one dropped just six games on her way to winning the clash, and she converted on five from 12 break point opportunities. However, she will need to raise her game further against a talented opponent in the form of Vondrousova.

Just like Raducanu, Vondrousova was a shock winner of a Grand Slam event in 2023, as the star shockingly won Wimbledon. However, that success remains a standout moment in her Grand Slam career. But, she has been competitive on all surfaces, reaching two Grand Slam quarterfinals since her victory at the All England Club.
The Czech star showcased her best form in the opening round at Wimbledon, as she easily swatted aside 32nd seed McCartney Kessler in straight sets. Vondrousova recorded four aces, and won 61% on the first serve.

This will be the fourth clash between the stars, and the second at Wimbledon. Raducanu holds the narrow advantage based on the previous meeting between the players on the grass, winning in straight sets back in 2021.
