Former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will be a shrewd pick for many to regain her title this summer, as the 26-year-old has a proven ability on the grass surface. Rybakina was the shock winner of the Grand Slam back in 2022 but she has continued to perform at a high level at the All England Club, including when reaching the final four last year. At present, she boasts a staggering 86% win rate at Wimbledon.
She encountered no issues in making her way through to the second round after easily overcoming Elina Avanesyan in straight sets. In the win, she dropped just three games, and won converted on five from six break point opportunities. Her momentum could be hard to ignore as the tournament progresses.

Maria Sakkari also enjoyed a straight sets win in the opening round, as she overcame Anna Blinkova 6-4, 6-4. The Greek star registered three aces, and won 70% of the points on the first serve.
