Naomi Osaka will be hoping to leave her mark at Wimbledon this year after a disappointing period in Grand Slam events since 2021. The Japanese star is yet to reach a major quarterfinal since winning the Australian Open in 2021.

However, her record at Wimbledon is extremely poor, with her best appearances coming in 2017 and 2018 when she reached the third round. But, positives can be taken from her performances at the recent Homburg Open, reaching the round of 16 on the grass before being eliminated in straight sets by Emma Navarro.

Australian Talia Gibson will be the outsider in the betting in this opening round clash. The 21-year-old performed excellently to book her spot in the main draw, overcoming three qualifying matches on the grass.

She also showed her ability on the surface when pushing a seeded rival to three sets at the Grass Court Championships Berlin earlier this month. However, the 21-year-old has only reached the main draw in two previous Grand Slam events, and that would be a concern against such a talented opponent on Monday.
