Match Preview
Emma Navarro will be one of the leading American hopes at Wimbledon this summer, as she bids to improve on her impressive run to the last four at the US Open in 2024. The 24-year-old has shown her ability on the grass at SW19 previously, reaching the last eight at the Grand Slam in 2024.
However, she will likely need a return to form if she is to be a serious win contender this summer. The American has underwhelmed on the grass already this summer, reaching only the round of 16 at the Grass Court Championships Berlin, and suffering an early exit at the Homburg Open.

The bright lights of a Grand Slam are no concern for Kvitola, as the experienced Czech star has competed at the grass court major throughout her career. She also has winning tournament experience on the grass after winning the Birmingham Classic back in 2018.
Kvitola is also a previous champion at Wimbledon, winning her only Grand Slam title back in 2014. Since then, she has only made it to the fourth round on two occasions. But, she should be prepared for a deep run in the competition this year after returning to major action by reaching the first round at the French Open last month.
Head-to-Head Record
Tuesday’s first round clash between Kvitola and Navarro will be the first time that the stars have collided in a competitive match.

Kvitola has an excellent pedigree on the grass, but she is way below the level that saw her claim Wimbledon success back in 2014. Therefore, Navarro should have the confidence to overcome a potential shock and book her spot in the second round of the major.
