Event Preview
There are few better sights in world tennis than Aryna Sabalenka performing at her highest level. The 27-year-old has been at her dominant best throughout the French Open this year, as she is yet to drop a set in four matches. Furthermore, her dominance in clear reflected after she has dropped just 18 games at Roland Garros in 2025.
In fact, eight of the games that she dropped came in the previous round against Amanda Anisimova. But, the top seed still battled through with a straight sets win. In the match, she hit a dominant eleven aces, but she will need to limit her mistakes after registering three double faults.

However, Sabalenka could face her most challenging task to date on Wednesday, as the improving 22-year-old Qinwen Zheng will be her opponent. The Chinese player has dropped just one set at Roland Garros this year, and she showed her quality in the previous round after eliminating 19th seed Liudmila Samsonova in excellent fashion.
Zheng is a proven competitor on the clay surface, despite reaching the quarterfinals for the first time at Roland Garros. The Chinese star was excellent at Roland Garros last year after winning the Olympic gold medal with a straight sets win over Donna Vekic.
Head-to-Head Record
This will only be the second meeting between Sabalenka and Zheng. The only previous clash came in the Australian Open final in 2024, with Sabalenka winning dominantly in straight sets on the hard court.
Aryna Sabalenka vs. Qinwen Zheng Picks
Qinwen Zhang is improving at a rapid pace, and she has proven ability on the clay after winning Olympic gold last summer. However, it is hard not to have been impressed by the dominant performances of Sabalenka to this point, meaning that the preference is for the top seed.
