Event Preview
The women’s US Open will round off the Grand Slam action on the WTA Tour for 2025. This year’s competition will be a thrilling competition, and Aryna Sabalenka will be favored to retain the title that she won in straight sets 12 months ago. Sabalenka’s ability on the hard courts is clearly reflected after reaching the final in each of the last two editions of the US Open.
However, despite being the top-ranked player in the world, she is yet to win a Grand Slam this year. Iga Swiatek proved that she is more than just a clay court specialist at Wimbledon after recording a straight sets win in the final. The Pole should also be respected as a former winner of the event at Flushing Meadows.

Coco Gauff will have the expectations of the home crowd on her back. The talented star won the US Open in 2023, and has since landed success at the French Open. Her win rate at 77% at Flushing Meadows indicates that she still needs to improve further in New York.
Amanda Anisimova was our pre-tournament pick for Wimbledon, but she was heavily beaten in the final at the All England Club. However, the 24-year-old looks back to her very best, and already has winning form at the highest level this calendar year after landing the Qatar Open.
Madison Keys should also be respected this year, as she looks to go one better than her final defeat in 2017. Keys was the winner of the Australian Open on a hard surface earlier this year, and she has reached at least the final four at the US Open in three of the last eight editions.
Women’s US Open Outright Winner Pick
The US Open has been a popular event in terms of first-time Grand Slam winners. Therefore, Zheng Qinwen could hold interesting claims this year.
The Chinese player has reached at least the last eight in the last two editions of the US Open, and has proven ability on a hard surface after reaching the Australian Open final in 2024.
