Fight Preview
One of the brightest stars in the heavyweight division will put his reputation on the line at the end of August, as Moses Itauma defends his perfect professional record against talented Croatian veteran Filip Hrgovic.
Itauma has been one of the most dominant fighters in the sport since turning pro, and his career hit a new trajectory after a career-best display to beat Jermaine Franklin in the fifth round to retain the WBA International and WBO Intercontinental Heavyweight titles.
His career has been ultra impressive to this point, also beating Dilian Whyte inside a round last August. Itauma’s ability to end fights in the blink of an eye is a trademark, with 12 of his 14 wins coming via stoppage.
Hrgovic will be Itauma’s most dangerous opponent to date. The Croatian is a former Olympic bronze medallist, and he looked set for the top of the sport after winning his first 17 bouts. However, an eighth-round loss against Daniel Dubois set him back.
Despite the defeat, the Croatian has bounced back to his best form over the last 18 months, beating talented British stars such as Joe Joyce and David Allen. His technical ability in the ring will be respected, and his ability to control fights was only evident in August 2022 when beating the taller Zhilei Zhang via unanimous decision.
Moses Itauma vs. Filip Hrgovic Picks
This will be the biggest test to date for Itauma. However, there looks to be something special about the British heavyweight, and we could see him scoring a KO win inside the 12 rounds against his veteran opponent in London.
