Event Preview
All eyes will be on Medinah Country Club at the end of September, as the 2026 Presidents Cup gets underway in Illinois. The event works in a similar format to the prestigious Ryder Cup, with teams from the USA and an International line-up competing in foursomes and fourball matches, before the final day consists of 12 singles clashes.
Brandt Snedeker will captain the U.S. team in this year’s event, as the Americans bid to win the Presidents Cup for the eleventh time in a row. In fact, Team USA has won every edition of the Presidents Cup since a tie in South Africa in 2003. The International Team has won just once since the event was established in 1994, with their only success coming at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in 1998.
A strong team has been named by Snedeker, including recently crowned Tour Championship winner Scottie Scheffler. Top-ranked players such as Cameron Young, Sam Burns, and Wyndham Clark will also be involved. Christ Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman, and Jackson Koivun will all be making their Presidents Cup debuts.
Geoff Ogilvy will captain the international team, as the visitors bid to record a historic victory on U.S. soil. Vast experience has been included in the team, including Kim Si Woo, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Hideki Matsuyama, who all boast winning records at the event. Ryan Fox and Nico Echavaria are notable Internationals making their debuts at the Presidents Cup this year.
