Event Preview
The final major on the 2026 golf schedule is set for this week, as action at the Women’s British Open gets underway on July 30. A purse of $10 million will be up for grabs at the Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club, which previously hosted the major back in 2018. A total of 144 players will be involved this week, with a total yardage of 6,585 covered.
Nelly Korda will be one of the standout contenders this week. The American rallied to finish T16 at last weekend’s Scottish Open, eventually finishing two over. Despite winning four major titles, she is yet to land the British Open title.
Ryu Hae-Ran has already made an impact on the major calendar this year, winning the Women’s PGA Championship and Evian Championship. She will be a leading contender, despite her previous best showing at The Open coming when T21 in 2023.
Miyu Yamashita shouldn’t be ignored after excelling on the LPGA Tour throughout 2026. Charley Hull should also be competitive in her home major. The English player is a nine-time winner on the Tour, and has typically excelled at the Women’s Open.

At the prices, Lottie Woad looks like an overpriced selection. Woad has made the cut in 13 of her 15 starts this season, and she is in recent winning form after landing the Queen City Championship. She excels on links courses, winning the Scottish Open 12 months ago, and finishing in the top ten on both previous appearances at the Women’s Open.
