Race Preview
The Saudi Cup is one of the first notable Grade Ones for horses in the first half of the calendar year. Once again, a star-studded field will take to the track, as they look to win their share of the $20 million purse. The race headlines the action-packed night of graded races, and there will be significant interest from all corners of the globe.
Forever Young still looks to be the improving contender in the field for trainer Yoshito Yahagi. The four-year-old was third in the Kentucky Derby last year, and also claimed a very respectable third in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic. He made his return to the track with a return win in Japan over a mile and two in late December.

Romantic Warrior is by far the most interesting contender for trainer Danny Shum. The seven-year-old has won over $20 million in prize money, and has already won in Grade One company on six occasions since the end of last year. However, a debut on the dirt would raise big questions.
Rattle N Roll is the big American hope in the Saudi Cup this weekend. The Kenneth McPeek-trained runner has a recent run at the track under his belt after winning by an impressive four-length margin in Group Three company last month. Brings some solid form to the table, and will likely give his running.
Saudi Cup Picks
Romantic Warrior is a fascinating contender, and if taking to the dirt, he could be hard to beat. However, Forever Young looks set to take high rank in all international dirt races for older horses in 2025, and his launching pad could see him kick off with a major win in the Saudi Cup.
