Race Preview

The pressure intensifies on the drivers involved in the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend as the round of 8 stage gets underway in Las Vegas. The South Point 400 makes up a stunning Sunday of motorsport action in the U.S., with the United States Grand Prix taking place in Texas.

This weekend’s South Point 400 has been staged annually since 2018, and it signals the fourth-to-last race of the playoffs. A total distance of 400.5 miles will be covered this weekend, with the final stage consisting of 107 laps.

Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske are tied for the most wins with two, while no driver has ever won the South Point 400 on multiple occasions.

However, Kyle Larson will be looking to buck that trend this weekend after dominating the field to win the 2023 edition of the race. Confidence will be key for Larson, as he moved to the top of the Drivers’ Championship last weekend with a second win in the playoffs.

Christopher Bell pushed the former champion the closest, but he ultimately had to settle for second. His runner-up finish means that the gap at the top stands at just 20 points at this late stage of the season.

Tyler Reddick finished outside of the top ten in the Bank of America Roval 400 last weekend, while William Byron took third to close the gap on the leaders in the standings. Chase Elliott finished fifth in the race to mark a third time in six races that he has finished in the top ten.

South Point 400 Picks

Larson put his foot down on the accelerator in the race for the championship last weekend with a stunning success. He could build on that in Sin City on Sunday by opening up a bigger advantage at the summit.
