Game Preview
The Chiefs overcame an injury-hit Dolphins team with ease in the coldest game on record at Arrowhead Stadium. If the -4 Fahrenheit temperature wasn’t bad enough, winds of 25mph made the weather miserable for everyone, but the Dolphins suffered with it the most. QB Patrick Mahomes threw 23 of 41 for 262 yards and 1 touchdown, Rashee Rice the recipient. The rookie receiver caught 8 of 12 targets for 130 yards and a score, and cemented his place as the only truly reliable pass catcher (aside from Travis Kelce) on the Chiefs roster at present. They may not have been the vintage Chiefs we have all come to expect this season, but one thing is still not in doubt – Mahomes and Kelce know how to win football games. Whether that will be enough to overcome the Bills, we will have to wait and see.
In a game rescheduled due to snow, the Bills made light work of the Steelers, running out 17-31 winners. Josh Allen continued to show why he is the QB1 this season, throwing 21/30 completions for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns, whilst adding 74 yards and a score on the ground from 8 attempts. His rushing touchdown coming from a franchise record 52 yard run to the end zone. Having lost to the Chiefs on the road in 2020 and 2021, Bills fans will be relishing this opportunity for revenge on home turf.
Prediction
It’s always hard to bet against the Chiefs, especially in the playoffs, but this is one occasion where I just can’t back them. The Bills are on a hot streak, and Kansas City look like a pale imposter of the side they once were. I’m taking Buffalo to win this one as the home team.
