Preview
The Panthers dropped to 0-2 on Sunday, after losing to a division rival for the 2nd straight week. With the three other teams in the division all at 2-0, Carolina is already in a tough position. They traded away their 1st-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, so losing does them no benefit. The good news is that rookie Bryce Young played well, completing 22 of 33 passes for 153 yards and a TD. His progression is key for Carolina.
Seattle bounced back from their disappointing loss to the Rams with a much better performance in Week 2. They won a thriller in overtime against the Lions in Detroit. QB Geno Smith looked a lot like the player he was last year, completing 32 of 41 passes for 328 yards and 2 TDs. On the other hand, Seattle’s defense did not look good for the second straight week. They need to improve on defense to avoid losing here.
Prediction
This could be a closer game than people expect. Carolina’s offense is young and has a lot of new pieces that are still meshing. Seattle’s defense projects to be a lot more forgiving than the two defense the Panthers faced already, so they could have a breakout game. On the other hand, Seattle’s home crowd is notoriously difficult to play against, especially for a rookie QB. I’ll take the Seahawks to win, but not cover.
