History was made by Luton in midweek, as the Hatters recorded their first victory of the new season at Goodison Park. It was nothing less than Luton deserved against the Toffees, as they bossed proceedings from the opening minute. The Hatters were particularly menacing from set-pieces, as Everton struggled to deal with Luton’s physicality.
Tom Lockyer and Carlton Morris scored the goals for Luton in their win at Goodison, with both coming in the opening 31 minutes. Everton did pull a goal back before the break, but Luton defended excellently throughout the second half to hang on for maximum points to kick start their push to escape relegation this term.
Burnley’s winless start to the new season continued last weekend, as they were routinely beaten on the road at St. James’ Park. The Clarets looked very short in the final third throughout that match, as they managed just two shots on target despite having 47% of the possession.
Newcastle went ahead after just 14 minutes, before the points were secured from the penalty spot with 15 minutes remaining on the clock. The defeat means that the Clarets have now failed to win in their last ten Premier League fixtures, losing eight times over that period. A response will be needed on Tuesday in a fixture where they will be the favorites in the betting.
Luton vs Burnley Prediction
Burnley picked up a 1-0 win in this fixture in the Championship last term. It could be worth siding with them landing maximum points for the first time this term against the Hatters at Kenilworth Road.
