Match Preview
The pressure will be mounting on Vitor Pereira at this stage of the season, as Wolves have dropped back into the relegation places after suffering defeats in each of their last four. Their misery was complete on Sunday last week after Leicester gained a shock win at Tottenham to move out of the bottom three at the expense of Wolves.
Aston Villa will also be fighting for points in their own battle this season. Unai Emery’s side sits eighth after 23 rounds of matches, but they are just four points adrift of the top five positions. The Villa come into this round after avoiding defeat in their last five, but they have played out draws in their previous two.

Wolves have an impressive recent record against the Villa, as they have suffered just one defeat in their last five home matches against their local rivals. Prior to this run, Villa had won on three of four visits to Molineux.
However, the visiting side this weekend will gain confidence from the fact that they recorded a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture this term. But, the Villa have failed to complete a league double over Wolves in any season since 2003-04.
Villa’s record against teams starting the day in the bottom three places is excellent under Unai Emery. They are yet to lose in 18 matches, winning 13 times over that period. Wolves’ record from set-pieces will need to improve if they are to remain in the top-flight, as they have conceded a Premier League-high of 19 goals.
Wolves vs. Aston Villa Picks
Wolves have already suffered five successive defeats on one occasion this season, and it looks hard to overlook the prospect of history repeating itself. Villa have been consistent in recent weeks, and the fact that Emery is yet to lose a match against a team starting the day in the relegation zone during his Villa tenure is a key trend.
