The United States was unable to kick off their Gold Cup campaign with a victory in the opening round of matches. It was a disappointing start to the tournament, with the USA among the leading contenders to win the tournament. However, they were ultimately very fortunate to pick up a draw in their opening match at the competition against Jamaica.

The United States fell behind after just 13 minutes, and registered just four shots on target despite boasting 68% of the possession. Saint Kitts and Nevis are the huge outsiders to progress through to the next round in Group A, and their chances of achieving that unlikely feat were negatively impacted following the opening round of matches. They were easily beaten in their first match of the Gold Cup, as they fell to a 3-0 loss against Trinidad and Tobago.

This will be another tricky assignment for the lowly-ranked nation in St. Louis, and they will need to defend much better than they did in that opening clash.
