Preview

Iowa State had a rough game against BYU on Tuesday, losing 87-72. It was an uncharacteristic defensive performance from a Cyclones team that allowed Houston and Oklahoma State to reach just 53 and 42 points, respectively, in the two games prior. Iowa State has been more vulnerable defensively on the road, a tendency they’ll aim to put behind them against the Horned Frogs. Tamin Lipsey will lead the way again.

TCU had a dramatic past two weeks. They had two incredibly close losses on the road against Kansas and Cincinnati, book-ending major home wins over Oklahoma and Houston. That stretch proved their ability, and vaulted them from out of the projected tourney field to safely inside it. They’ve got more work to do, returning home for another ranked clash. Emmanuel Miller continues to be their most consistent player.

Prediction

The proven formula in Power-6 conference games this year has been to take the home team. Unless the road team is an enormous favorite, the home team is winning at a historic rate. It’s always been difficult to win on the road in college basketball, but increased parity has only made it even tougher, especially in a stacked conference like the Big-12. I like the Horned Frogs to keep up their hot play with another victory.

NCAAB Picks:

  • TCU 72, Iowa State 64 ()
