Last year was one of the biggest in terms of cinema releases following the COVID pandemic, with Barbie and Oppenheimer doing battle in the box office. However, there will be another fascinating battle in 2024, as a number of star-studded releases will be looking to enjoy the biggest opening weekend in the BetOnline betting markets.
The second installment of Joker is the film expected to enjoy the biggest opening weekend. Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as the Joker, as the film picks up from the end of the first flick, which saw Arthur Fleck imprisoned for the killing of Murray Franklin on live television. The second film introduces Harleen Quinzel, with Lady Gaga playing the love interest of the Joker.

Joker 2’s biggest threat in terms of enjoying the biggest opening weekend will come in the form of Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds once again reprises the role of the title character, with Hugh Jackman making a first appearance in the Deadpool franchise as Wolverine. The film will also star Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jennifer Garner.
While the top two are clear at the top of the betting, there will be some other huge releases throughout 2024. Among those is Madame Web, which is a fresh take from the Spider-Man Universe. Dakota Johnson stars as the central character, and it will be one of the first big releases of 2024, with the Marvel Comics film set to be released on Valentine’s Day.
