It has been a positive winter period to this point for Real Madrid, as the Spanish side have recently picked up the Super Cup following a dominant 4-1 win against Barcelona. However, a rare setback was handed to Carlo Ancelotti’s side in midweek, as Real were beaten by their local rivals Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.

But, all the trends point to Los Blancos getting back on track this weekend. Real Madrid have gone 13 matches without defeat in the league, winning ten fixtures over that period. They also come into this weekend after recording wins in each of their last three. However, they haven’t won four on the bounce since September 2023.

This appears to be a mismatch on paper, as Almeria are locked at the bottom of the La Liga standings after failing to pick up a victory so far this term. It already appears incredibly hard to see them avoiding relegation this term, and their chances this weekend aren’t aided by the fact that they have lost each of their last eight in the league against Real Madrid.

Over that period, they have also conceded an average of 4.1 goals per game. Almeria’s poor run of form is staggering, as they haven’t recorded a victory in their last 23 matches in the competition. They could equal the second-longest winless run in the Spanish top-flight this weekend if they aren’t able to land a shock success at the Bernabeu.
