Preview
North Carolina picked up a key win against Virginia Tech, improving to 3-3 over their last 6 games. The Tar Heels have stumbled after their 17-3 start, and find themselves back on the projected 2-seed line. They’ll have a chance to earn a Quad 1 win in this game and make a case for returning to a 1-seed. The Tar Heels have one of the most experienced and well-balanced teams, led by seniors RJ Davis and Armando Bacot.

Virginia had a disastrous performance against Virginia Tech, as they continue to take a tumble in the metrics. They’ve fallen all the way to #66 in KenPom, calling into question the Cavaliers safety as a projected 8/9 seed. They’ve certainly fallen closer to the bubble than expected after going 1-2 in their last three games. This home matchup against North Carolina is a huge opportunity for Virginia to right the ship.
Prediction
After scoring less than 50 points in two straight games, the Cavaliers are more than likely to struggle on offense against North Carolina’s top-10 ranked defense. They have a marginal advantage being at home, but I don’t see it being enough to overcome the difference in talent of these two teams. I see the Tar Heels winning this one pretty easily, and putting Virginia in a very difficult position as the season winds down.
NCAAB Picks:
- North Carolina 67, Virginia 58 )
