Arsenal will have the pressure back on their shoulders in the Premier League title race on Saturday when they welcome Brighton to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners bounced back to form with a nervy 1-0 win at Everton last Saturday, but they were pushed to their limit in midweek after being taken to penalties by Crystal Palace.
Brighton’s inconsistent form has seen them drop down the league standings, as they now sit ninth after a 0-0 draw against Sunderland last Saturday, making it four without a win in the Premier League.
The Seagulls have failed to win in their last four league games against Arsenal, but they played out draws in both fixtures last season. Arsenal’s home record this season has been one of their biggest strengths, and that is reflected after winning their last five at the Emirates.
It is the fifth time that the Gunners have sat top at Christmas, but they have never won the Premier League from this position. Brighton have failed to score in their last two fixtures, but they haven’t gone three without a goal since January 2024. Worryingly, the Seagulls have never won a league match in December under Fabian Hurzeler.
