Game Preview
The Volunteers (25-11) make their way to the Elite Eight of March Madness, taking down Miami (OH) and Virginia in the first two rounds then stunning Iowa State in the Round of 16. Nate Ament paced the victors with a co-game-high 18 points. Ja’Kobi Gillespie, who went 5-of-6 on 2-pointers, finished with 16 points for Tennessee. Felix Okpara posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and making both his free throws. Jaylen Carey also had a double-double, notching 11 points and 10 rebounds, alongside a co-career-high four assists.
Dusty May and the Wolverines (34-3) cruised to the Elite Eight after dominant wins over Howard and Saint Louis, then recently dispatching Alabama in the Sweet 16. Yaxel Lendeborg led the Wolverines as he recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 assists. Elliot Cadeau scored 17 points and paired it with five rebounds and seven assists. Coming off the bench, Trey McKenney added 17 points and Roddy Gayle Jr. had 16 points.
Tennessee vs Michigan Head-to-Head
The two programs have had 12 meetings in their history, and the result is 5-7 for the Wolverines. The last matchup was in March 2022 when Michigan won 76-68 in that year’s NCAA Tournament.
Tennessee vs Michigan Predictions
The winner of this matchup will go to the Final Four as they face the Arizona Wildcats on April 4. Tennessee has enjoyed a strong run in March Madness, especially after eliminating Virginia and Iowa State. However, it will be tough for them to stun the Wolverines, who are rolling with incredible momentum as Yaxel Lendeborg and his supporting cast come through with solid performances. A spot in the Final Four is on the line, something that Michigan will seek to achieve in convincing fashion. Our betting pick here is the Wolverines to defend a 7.5-point spread.
