2026 NFL Most Valuable Player Opening Odds
| Player | Position | Team | Opening Odds |
| Josh Allen | QB | Buffalo Bills | +175 |
| Brock Purdy | QB | San Francisco 49ers | +250 |
| Patrick Mahomes | QB | Kansas City Chiefs | +850 |
| Trevor Lawrence | QB | Jacksonville Jaguars | +950 |
| Drake Maye | QB | New England Patriots | +1100 |
| Joe Burrow | QB | Cincinnati Bengals | +1500 |
Josh Allen (+175)
The 2024 NFL MVP is back in Superman mode. Allen is tearing apart the rivals, and his performances are simply unreal. The Bills’ new head coach, Joe Brady, has turned his QB into not only a passer but also a rusher and, from time to time, a receiver in the backfield.
He is 9-4 in TD/Interception ratio with 1,504 passing yards, yet his rushing stats are impressive. Allen has 8 rushing touchdowns, 240 rushing yards, and 22 rushing first downs through the first 6 games of the 2026 NFL season. So he is a FACTOR. The biggest one in the league right now.
Brock Purdy (+250)
Purdy is the leader of the NFL’s best team at the moment. The Niners are 6-0, and he’s the one who navigates the offense, which turns out to be one of the best in the league. He threw for 14 TD passes in the first 6 games, tied for the most in the NFL, and his QBR rating is 83, the best.
We can’t shake the feeling that his team is way too strong, and that he has everything it takes to win games. But many other QBs had super teams and haven’t done anything, so hats off to Purdy right now; he deserves to be an MVP favorite.
Patrick Mahomes (+850)
Mahomes and the boys are still undefeated, and the three-time Super Bowl champ rose to place No.3 in the MVP race. Though, we have to say that even though Mahomes got most credit for the Chiefs’ strong start, he has massive help coming from last year’s champion, RB Kenneth Walker III, currently the top RB in the league.
On the other hand, if Mahomes fails to win this award, the NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors are most definitely going to him. Right now, he is a massive favorite, far ahead of the competition.
Trevor Lawrence (+950) & Drake Maye (+1100)
Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow are also on the list among the top 5; though, we would prefer to see Kenneth Walker III there. The latter was magnificent in the opening 6 weeks, pounding his way up through the ranks and establishing himself as one of the most dominant players.
NFL Most Valuable Player Award (MVP)
The NFL Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is the most prestigious individual honor in professional football, awarded annually by the Associated Press (AP) to the player deemed most outstanding during the regular season.
Presented officially at the annual NFL Honors ceremony, the award traditionally celebrates elite quarterbacks and generational playmakers who lead their franchises to top playoff seeds.
🏆 Eligibility and Voting Criteria
The AP NFL MVP is determined under strict balloting guidelines ahead of the postseason:
- Regular Season Focus: Balloting takes place immediately following the conclusion of the regular season; playoff performances are strictly excluded from consideration.
- Voting Panel: Decided by a nationwide panel of 50 sports journalists, broadcasters, and football experts.
- Ranked-Choice System: Voters fill out a ranked-choice ballot (1st through 5th place), utilizing a weighted point scale (10-5-3-2-1) to select the winner.
🏈 Historical Milestones & Record Holders
- Most Wins (5): Peyton Manning holds the record for the most AP MVP titles in NFL history (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2013).
- Inaugural AP Winner: Jim Brown (1957, Cleveland Browns).
- Non-QB/RB Winners: Only two defensive players have ever won MVP—Alan Page (1971) and Lawrence Taylor (1986)—alongside one placekicker, Mark Moseley (1982).
- Unanimous Winners: Tom Brady (2010) and Lamar Jackson (2019) are the only unanimous MVP winners in NFL history.
