Event Preview
All eyes will once again be on the Vegas Sphere this weekend, as the Las Vegas Grand Prix will be watched by a global audience. The venue was opened earlier this year, with U2 playing their opening show of a 36-show residency that will run until 2024. The Sphere is able to house over 18,600 spectators, and its visual effects have made it a standout venue just off the Vegas Strip since the start of last year.

Imagine Dragons are the early favorites, as the Vegas-based band have become one of the most commercially successful artists in modern times. The band have won three American Music Awards, and boasts hits such as ‘Radioactive’, ‘Demons’, and ‘It’s Time’.

However, one of the factors that organizers will look to take into account is how commercially successful an artist is outside of the United States before determining on the next resident. Therefore, it is little surprise to see globally successful artists such as Sting and Billy Joel rank among the favorites.
But, a standout selection could be Morgan Wallen. As one of the biggest names in country music, the 30-year-old has just finished a record-breaking global tour. The singer recently had a number one on the Hot 100 with ‘Last Night’, with his 12-week run at the top of the charts breaking a number of records.

Morgan Wallen is a star who continues to break new ground, including the fact that his album ‘Dangerous: The Double Album’ broke a 64-year wait for a country artist to top the Billboard 200. It would be little surprise to see him among the contenders to hold residency in the Sphere.
