In general, a “Special Bet” (or just a “Special”) is another name for a Prop Bet or Exotic Bet.

It is any wager that is not one of the standard “Big Three” (Point Spread, Moneyline, or Total). You aren’t betting on the final score; you are betting on a specific event happening within the game.
