Event Preview

The next stop on the PGA Tour takes us to Ohio, as the Memorial Tournament takes center stage across the coming weekend. This event has been part of the PGA Tour schedule since 1976, and is played annually across the first weekend in June. A huge purse of $20 million is available this weekend.

Tom Lehman holds the tournament record score, as he finished 20-under when landing victory in 1994. Meanwhile, Billy Horschel comes into the event this year as the defending champion after winning by four shots from Aaron Wise 12 months ago.

Scottie Scheffler is certainly a standout contender this weekend, as he comes into the event in excellent form. He finished in a tie for third at the Charles Schwab Challenge last weekend, which was an excellent return after finishing in a tie for second at the PGA Championship. Jon Rahm also makes a very obvious case, as the Spaniard continues to be one of the in-form players on the tour.

Rory McIlroy is an attractive price this weekend, as the 34-year-old looks to build momentum after finishing in a tie for seventh at the PGA Championship ahead of the U.S. Open in a few weeks. Meanwhile, Patrick Cantlay could be difficult to ignore after winning the Memorial Tournament on two occasions since 2019.

We like two players at a price this weekend. The first is Tyrrell Hatton, who finished well at the PGA Championship to finish in a tie for 15^th. The Englishman has also finished in the top five in two of his previous three appearances. Meanwhile, Hideki Matsuyama could be a player that may thrive in Ohio after previously winning a dramatic playoff at the event in 2014.
