Picks
Philadelphia trailed the Celtics by as many as 12 points with 3:30 remaining in the first half, but never allowed the lead to grow to an unreasonable amount. They kept it close, eventually fighting back to take the lead in the 2nd half. James Harden showed exactly why the 76ers spent so much draft capital to acquire him, scoring 45 points, and leading the team to victory. A road win without Embiid was massive.

The Celtics were on the other side of the 76ers impressive comeback, blowing a double-digit lead and eventually, the game. The loss was catastrophic for them, as they failed to take advantage of a home game in which 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid was unavailable for the 76ers. Boston can still win this long series, but they absolutely need to get a win here. As soon as Embiid returns, it’ll become even tougher.

Picks
This is a desperation game for the Celtics, who cannot afford to go down 2-0 in this series prior to heading to Philadelphia for the next two games. Embiid’s availability here should make a difference, but the 76ers showed in Game 1 they are still really strong without him. I’m stunned they are being given so many points in the spread. I see the Celtics winning this must-win game, but I see the 76ers covering the spread easily.
