Pick rationale

Analysis & key factors

  • Florida improved to 7-1 over the last 8 games with their win over Georgia.
  • Alabama dominated Texas A&M on Saturday, winning by a score of 100-75.
  • These two teams last met on February 8, 2023, in a game that Alabama won 97-69.

Selection Sunday is less than a month away! Let’s look at the upcoming SEC matchup between the Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Both are expected to make the NCAA Tournament again in March.

How to Watch

  • ESPN2

Preview

Florida has quietly been one of the hottest teams over the last month. They’ve won seven of the last eight games, including massive ranked wins at Kentucky, and by 16 points against Auburn. The Gators one loss in that span came by just one point at Texas A&M. They suit up for another crucial road test in this game against Alabama. The Gators are safely in the projected field of 68, but can still improve their seeding here.

Alabama has college basketball’s most efficient offense. They reached over 100 points for the second straight game in their 25-point win over Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide have reached 100+ points eight times this season, a truly impressive offensive feat. They’ll aim to continue their success against a red-hot Florida team in this matchup. G Mark Sears is having a breakout season for the Crimson Tide as a Senior.

Prediction

This should be an excellent matchup between two ranked teams from a stacked SEC. Alabama has a notable advantage at home, but the hot play of both teams makes the result a bit more unpredictable. Ultimately, I see the Crimson Tide’s offense giving Florida trouble and pulling away late in the game.

NCAAB Picks:

  • Alabama 87, Florida 79 )
