History will be made in the Stanley Cup this year, as a first-time champion will be crowned. The Florida Panthers have reached the finals for the second time in franchise history. But they were beaten on their previous appearance in 1996. Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights will also be competing in their second Stanley Cup after falling to defeat in 2018.
The Panthers have surpassed all expectations to reach this stage, as they were outsiders in the betting each of the previous three rounds. However, they overcame the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs to set up a conference finals showdown with the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Panthers will be well rested coming into the finals, as they eased to a whitewash victory over the Hurricanes on May 24. Florida was excellent throughout that series, with both wins in Carolina coming in overtime. Playing away from home is unlikely to faze the Panthers, having already won in Boston and Toronto in the playoffs this term.
Vegas will be the clear favorite in the betting to win the Stanley Cup this year, and they come into the finals after seeing off the Dallas Stars in six games on Monday. It was a comfortable 6-0 win to settle the series, with William Karlsson netting twice, and Keegan Kolesar and William Carrier also adding goals.
