Event Preview

The high-quality DP World Tour action on the road to the World Tour Championship continues at the Wentworth Club this weekend, as a purse of $9 million will be up for grabs at the BMW PGA Championship. The field will compete across 7,267 yards at the stroke play event, with the winning player given an exemption into next year’s U.S. Open and the next three Open Championships.

Rory McIlroy will head the betting this weekend, despite fading at the recent Irish Open to finish T41. McIlroy previously won the BMW PGA Championship in 2014, and he has finished as the runner-up on three occasions since then.

Shane Lowry was our big winner last weekend, as the Irishman dominated his home event to finish eleven shots clear. He could hold interesting claims once again this weekend after winning the BMW PGA Championship in 2022, and finishing as the runner-up in 2014.

Jon Rahm endured a frustrating return to the DP World Tour last weekend, finishing only T23 at the Irish Open. However, the Spaniard’s consistency ensures that he is a dangerous contender, and his form looks reliable on paper after winning the 2026 LIV Golf Championship.

Joaquin Niemann should also be competitive at Wentworth this weekend. The Chilean made an excellent return to the DP World Tour last weekend, finishing T2 at the Irish Open and shooting an excellent three-under in the final round.

BMW PGA Championship Picks

Aaron Rai is the sleeper pick in the betting this weekend. The PGA Champion has been reliable throughout the campaign, but his chances this weekend are built on his excellent record at Wentworth, finishing T2, T4, and T3 on his previous three starts at the course. His driving accuracy will be rewarded on the greens this weekend, and he is far too big at the odds to ignore when making BMW PGA Championship picks.
