Event Preview
The Charles Schwab Challenge is the standout event on the golf circuit this weekend. It has been staged annually since 1946, but it has been known as its current title since 2019. The event is a par 70, with 7,209 yards being covered at Colonial Country Club. Last year’s winner was Sam Burns, while the tournament record scores were set by Zach Johnson back in 2010.
Scottie Scheffler certainly looks to have a leading chance this weekend, as he ended the PGA Championship in excellent form. He finished the fourth round at -4, but he couldn’t get close enough to mount a serious challenge. Viktor Hovland also finished in a tie for second last weekend, and he could be hard to ignore based on his excellent showing at Oak Hill last weekend.

There would be little surprise to see Tony Finau bounce back this weekend after he shot a poor +7 in the final round to finish outside the top 50 at Oak Hill. However, he has a fine record at this event, having finished back in second back in 2019.
Jordan Spieth often brings his A-game to this event, having landed success in 2016, before finishing second in both 2017 and 2021. Scheffler also has previous form in book, as he finished second 12 months ago.
Charles Schwab Challenge Prediction
We will be siding with two players with previous experience in the event. Collin Morikawa and Justin Rose both competed strongly at Oak Hill last week, with the latter managing to finish in the top ten. Meanwhile, Morikawa shot -1 in the final round. Rose landed victory in the event back in 2018, while Morikawa was denied success following a playoff back in 2020.
